Kids Classes

The Kids Hapkido classes at Kinetic Martial Arts will help your child be happier, healthier and more successful in life.

The classes give children a fun and disciplined way to exercise, and develop self-respect, self-control, respect for others, and social and physical skills that they will be able to use through to their adult lives. This is one of the best opportunities you can give your child as they are growing up.

The classes are taught in a safe and gently challenging environment, with a specialised children's syllabus that teaches the basics of martial arts which can be built upon as children age.

Our syllabuses are age specific with classes separated to the age groups below.

  • Sparrows: 3 to 5yrs. This class involves lots of games that help to develop strength and co-ordination. This class also concentrates on giving each child lots of encouragement and positive feedback when they meet their accomplishments. All this works to provide children with a great deal more confidence to try new things and to strive towards their achievements. Where parents feel comfortable, we also get them involved in the class.
  • Hawks: 5 to 8 yrs. In this class children will play lots of different games, with the key focus being fun and disipline. Children will be introduced to different techniques derived from authentic martial arts, but altered slightly to make them safer and more accessible to children's training. Children in this class will be introduced to short term goals and how they can work towards medium term goals.
  • Falcons: 8 to 14 yrs. In this class children will be trained with the same drills and techniques as the adults class. Some games are still included in the class and are used to develop specific martial arts skills. This class will develop their fitness and strength, and provides a bridge for kids to move into the adults class.

Our school rules provide the frame work for teaching your child the values and morals that our school has become well known for. Our school rules are:

  1. Never initiate conflict
  2. Respect the Black Belts and Teachers
  3. Respect the Dojang or School
  4. Respect your training partners
  5. Respect yourself

In our classes, children will practice both non-physical and physical ways of avoiding negative situations and keeping control of the environment around them.

The class structure allows children to progress according to their age, ability and dedication, with gradings providing a useful tool for them to begin goal setting and focusing on self-improvement.

In today’s society it is becoming increasingly difficult to find positive role models. We have the best of instructors and assistant instructors; each of them has attended instructor’s courses for teaching kids and are regularly assessed and provided with further training.

Your child’s first class with us is free, with no obligations to join; we invite you to come along so they can join in. If you have any questions at all feel free to contact Chief Instructor Trent Madsen on 0414 814 045.

See you on the mats...
